Every August, Davao City blossoms into a kaleidoscope of color, joy, and thanksgiving during the Kadayawan Festival—also known as Davao’s Festival of Festivals. Celebrated from August 8–17, 2025, this week-long extravaganza honors gratitude for nature’s bounty and the rich traditions of its 11 indigenous tribes.

What Is Kadayawan?
The word "kadayawan" stems from the Mandaya term madayaw, meaning “valuable” or “good.” It evolved from the 1986 Apo Duwaling festival—named for Mount Apo, durian, and Waling-Waling orchid—and was renamed in 1988 to better reflect unity and cultural richness.
This festive tradition dates back to tribes offering thanks to Manama, the deity of abundance, for generous harvests and prosperity.
