Traveling to Thailand just got a little smoother. In 2025, the country officially introduced the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, replacing the old paper immigration forms that visitors had to fill out on the plane or upon landing. For anyone planning a trip to the Land of Smiles, this update is a big step toward easier, faster, and more eco-friendly travel.

What Is the Digital Arrival Card?

Previously, international travelers entering Thailand were handed a small blue and white paper form to complete with personal details, flight information, and address in Thailand. Starting in 2025, this has been replaced with a fully digital system.

The new Digital Arrival Card allows travelers to enter their details online before their trip, or at digital kiosks in the airport, making immigration checks more streamlined.

Why Did Thailand Make the Change?

  • Efficiency: Cuts down on long lines at immigration counters.

  • Accuracy: Digital forms reduce errors from handwritten entries.

  • Eco-friendly: Eliminates millions of paper forms each year.

  • Modernization: Aligns with Thailand’s push toward smart travel and digital services.

How to Use the Digital Arrival Card

  1. Before You Fly: Travelers are encouraged to complete the Digital Arrival Card online through Thailand’s official immigration website or app.

  2. At the Airport: If you haven’t filled it in advance, kiosks are available before immigration checkpoints.

  3. Show Your QR Code: Once submitted, you’ll receive a QR code that immigration officers can scan for faster processing.

What Information Do You Need?

The form asks for the same details as before:

  • Passport information

  • Flight number

  • Intended address in Thailand (hotel, Airbnb, or host’s address)

  • Contact details

Who Needs to Fill It Out?

All international arrivals, including tourists, business travelers, and returning residents, are required to complete the Digital Arrival Card. Some exemptions may apply to ASEAN travelers crossing land borders, but for most international visitors, it’s mandatory.

A Welcome Upgrade for Travelers

Thailand’s move to a Digital Arrival Card is part of a broader effort to modernize travel in the country. For visitors, it means less paperwork, quicker entry, and a smoother start to your Thai adventure.
